Need for proper disposal of batteries

The batteries which are no more of any use are a waste material and this waste batteries form a portion of non-biodegradable waste which is harmful and destructive for the environment. scrap batteries are deteriorating and unsafe for both the nature and human beings. There is a need for its battery disposal but this is proved to be detrimental for the health and surroundings.

When the arduous metals like cadmium and lead are burned, they commence to get saturated into the ash and have the tendency to percolate into the soil and groundwater slowly and steadily. This leads to imbalance in the environment and the natural cycle flow. Lead acid batteries consist of a small amount of strong vitriolic acids which can damage and burn the eyes and skin.

The lead and sulphuric acid which is present in the battery scraps can result in damage to central nervous system both in humans and animals. Due to the evaporation of some metal elements, the air and water gets polluted, this is responsible for disturbance in food chain and damage to aquatic life. Therefore, proper and managed disposal of batteries is required.
